The Audition function of Facet5 goes a significant step further than Searchlight – it allows you to match individual profiles against a person specification for recruitment and selection purposes.

By defining the core requirements of a role Audition can link candidates to the role and indicate exactly how closely they 'fit'. It also creates a detailed interview guide showing exactly which areas to probe, what questions to ask and what to look for in the answers.

Audition is the customised element of Facet5, requiring a reference template or ‘ideal’ profile. The ideal template can be created in three different ways:
  • Audition based on empirical research – the most typical application of Audition is for high volume selection processes such as call centres. Where the volumes warrant it, Audition should be based on a thorough research project designed to provide the specification for the Audition role template.
  • Audition based on rational analysis – this approach requires a detailed job analysis. This may be a formal written analysis that has already been prepared but it could also be created from interviews using a critical incident or repertory grid technique. In either case the steps are:
  • Audition based on ‘collective intelligence’ – this approach uses Facet5’s integrated multi-rater process. Direct estimates are obtained from multiple raters who are deemed to be ‘informed’ regarding the requirements of the role. The system produces a multi-rater view of the requirements for the role expressed directly as behaviours related to Facet5 sub-factors. When agreed these can be loaded directly to the system to create an Audition template.

Case study

Norfolk County Council use Audition to help differentiate between ‘most suitable’ and ‘least suitable’ candidates as part of their recruitment process for call centre staff. Find out more in this case study published on contactcenterworld.com. Alternatively, download an article showing how Audition can be used to select effective customer service staff.
