System requirements and security (assessment tools)


On-line client projects are held on dedicated servers hosted and managed by Claranet (voted best business ISP in the UK). The Claranet network, on which the servers sit, links directly to all the major European peering points and the global Internet backbone providing the best possible speed and performance to our clients.

In hosting your project we can provide a cost-effective and easy-to-implement solution. This avoids the administrative and security headaches of installing software on your systems, gives a huge saving on licensing costs and ensures fast technical support in getting any issues resolved –yet still meets your security and data protection requirements.

To ensure your project runs successfully please take a moment to read through the technical requirements outlined and discuss them with your IT Department.

Standard requirements for web-based service

Web browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.01 or above or Netscape 4.7 or above
Screen resolution: 800 by 600 pixels (or higher)
Reports: Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.00 or above
Cookies: For our save-as-you-go questionnaire we use session state cookies to store login credentials (not passwords), code, usertype and scores. A language code may also be stored to ensure correct formatting. The cookie remains for 6 months or until the questionnaire is completed.
E-mail: E-mails should allow users to click onto external web links from within the e-mail body. (Also see anti-spam below).
Administrators: Administrators need Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.01 or above and screen resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels (or higher)
Security
Internet access through firewall: Access to the on-line development site needs to be allowed through the internal firewall where appropriate. This will be on port 80 for http:// access (or 443 when using https://). Access should be to the domain name registered for the site.
Anti-spam software: Any anti-spam software installed should allow e-mails to be received from the mail server mail.icebergtools.com and from any e-mail address ending @icebergtools.com.

Standard requirements for software service

A software installation service is available for those clients who choose to administer all aspects of the project themselves, rather than use a web-based system. The standard requirements are:
  • PCs with 133 MHz or higher processor
  • Microsoft Windows® 98SE, ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP
  • 64 MB of memory (128 MB of memory for use on Windows XP)
  • Hard disk space: 70-100 MB required for installation
  • Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor with 24-bit or higher color depth
  • CD-ROM or DVD drive for installation (or Internet Download)
  • Keyboard
  • Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device
